Our Kellisa Breeding Program to date
Well, So far I am very pleased with what I see in the first generation of using these old lines. Some of the temperments in the Bullet/Kye litter are a bit too soft but that seems to be corrected in breeding out to the other lines we have tried so far. We are seeing the odd weak ear and perhaps too much ear (thanks to Kye) but again that seems easily corrected by a mate with shorter thicker ear. With only a rare exception so far, we have seen excellent hip results and no problems as yet in the rest of the health testing , however , we still have a long way to go before all final test results are in and tabulated.
Our Plans For The Future
It is our plan to proceed with testing these old lines back to more of todays lines and carefully monitor the results so that we make sure we don't reactivate any old recessive problems . As well we must make the effort to create better than what we have now,
So, in keeping with that objective, we have decided to restrict the use of any breedable males to girls in the lines we have already tested or to lines that are registered with the NSBR so we will be able to watch the LMI (Littermate information) more closely . This will ensure we are moving in the right direction. We have also decided that in the same interest we will no longer sell breeding stock. The puppies we do not keep to go forward in the breed will be sold to loving pet homes where families who qualify will be able to share their homes with a beautiful loyal and gentle Shiloh. Puppies sold as pets will recieve shots, vet checks and a two and a half year guarantee against cripling hip or elbow dysplasia, or genetic diseases which might affect the quality of life. All terms will be laid out clearly in our contract. We do ask that all puppy owners do health testing by the age of two and a half years. This allows us to keep our health records current and better know which lines produce the best shilohs. As well it assures the puppy owners of the good health of this precious member of their family.
Available puppies will be pictured here on the site and we will do our utmost to match them with families who best fit their individual personalities. If you are on the list for a Kellisa Shiloh pup, you will be given the chance to accept the first available suitable puppies but, you may also choose to wait for a pup from another litter if you wish without losing your place on the puppy list.
We will post all our successes and failures here and invite anyone who is interested to share them with us and to contact us at any time with any queries at all.
In the event that we decide to place a grown shiloh that we have decided is not a good breeding prospect, we will also post the pictures here and try to place him/her with a suitable home and family to love.
Our goal as always is to create a big beautiful healthy shepherd who will love and protect his/her family for many years.
